The 5th International Symposium on Extant and Fossil Charophytes will be held at the University of Rostock, 23-26 September. (21 September to 1 October 2008 including pre- and post-symposium fieldtrips).

2007
The 15th Meeting of the Group of European Charophytologists (GEC), was held at Belgrade, Serbis, 24 to 28 September.
The meeting was organised by Prof. Jelena Blazencic and Dr Branka Stevanovic with Dr Jasmina Sinzar-Sekulic acting as Secretary General. The meeting took place in the modern building of the Institute for Nature Conservation of Serbia in New Belgrade and was attended by 32 participants from all over Europe (13 countries) and by Prof. Mu Xinan as a guest from China .
